ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Eric Wood will miss at least two weeks, possibly the rest of the season with a torn MCL in his knee.
The Bills' starting center went down with the injury in the fourth quarter Sunday against Jacksonville. It is a partial MCL tear and will not require surgery.
Wood is no stranger to season-ending injuries. He broke his leg earlier in his career, then tore his ACL last season.
"I was just in denial that I got hurt," said Wood. "I just kept playing because I (said) ‘There is no way I am staying down on this field. No way this is happening again.'"
The injury leaves the Bills very thin along the offensive line. Right tackle Chris Hairston could also miss Sunday's game against the Rams with a deep bruise in his foot/ankle area.
Buffalo released linebacker Kirk Morrison today to make room for another lineman on the roster.
Kraig Urbik will likely slide from guard to center to replace Wood, with David Snow filling in for Urbik. Sam Young will take over at RT for Hairston.
Stevie Johnson (hamstring), Donald Jones (calf), and Leodis McKelvin (back) are all expected to return to practice this week and play Sunday.
The news is not so bright for defensive end Chris Kelsay, who missed the Jaguars game after aggravating a neck injury. Bills Head Coach Chan Gailey said the injury is not progressing well at the moment, and it is unclear if Kelsay will be able to return this season.
