SUNRISE, FL. (WIVB) - Nathan Gerbe scored twice, and the Sabres flashed some skills in the shootout to pick up their second straight win in the Sunshine State, topping Florida 4-3 Thursday night.
Gerbe kicked off the scoring in the first period, before Tyler Ennis added a power play strike for an early 2-0 lead.
That advantage quickly disappeared. Drew Shore and Marcel Goc scored goals just 56 apart to tie the game at 2-2.
Gerbe struck again to give the lead back to Buffalo late in the first period. The score held up until deep into the third period - just the second time this season the Sabres held a lead going into the final period of play.
After losing a faceoff, former Sabre Brian Campbell provided the equalizer with 1:26 to go to force overtime.
