ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Bills started the process of trimming their roster to 53 Friday, releasing 18 players and placing three others on Injured Reserve.
Quarterback Matt Leinart headlines the list, despite being on the roster less than a week. He signed with the team Sunday, started Thursday's night's preseason game, and is now once again a free agent.
The Bills also released three cornerbacks, leaving them thin at the position. With Stephon Gilmore out with a fractured wrist, Leodis McKelvin and Justin Rogers are the likely starters. Nickel cornerbacks Ron Brooks and Nickell Robey are the only other two corners on the roster.
QB Kevin Kolb, WR Brad Smith, and FB Drew Smith are all now on IR and out for the season.
The complete list of cuts includes:

G Zack Chibane
