BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Khalil Mack is blazing quite the trail at UB. The senior linebacker is among 16 semifinalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the top defensive player in college football.
Mack is the first UB player to make the cut. He is also a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker.
He leads the MAC in tackles for loss (11) and sacks (7), along with a team-leading 54 tackles and three interceptions. His 67 career tackles for loss are the third-most in NCAA history.
Three finalists will be announced November 25th. The winner will be revealed December 12th.
