BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Buffalo native Jim Negrych along with designated hitter Mauro Gomez have been chosen for the International League all-star game. Both players were name starters.
The honor marks, the second Triple-A all-star appearance for both players. Negrych made the all-star team last season, while playing for the Syracuse Chiefs. Gomez was chosen in 2011, while playing for the Gwinnett Braves.
Negrych has maintained one of the highest batting averages in the league throughout the season. He has averaged .331 through 69 games. Gomez is one of the best sluggers in all of minor league baseball. He currently leads the league in home runs with 24. He has had five multi-homer games this season.
The 26th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be played on July 17th in Reno, Nevada.
