BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Watkins Glen International track president Michael Printup grew up in Hamburg, and he was back in Western New York today to talk about the upcoming Cheez-It 355 at The Glen.
The track has made nearly $35 million worth of improvements over the last four years, aimed at improving the overall fan experience.
"It's all about the fans," said Printup. "It's new showers, new bathrooms. It may sound simple, but when you're talking 1,800 acres, it's not a stadium. We would fit 15 Bills stadiums inside of our facility."
Printup says the Buffalo area is one of WGI's largest regions, in terms of where race-day fans are visiting from.
"For a race fan, you've got one shot to see it in the state of New York, otherwise you're driving miles and miles and miles," said Printup.
This year's Cheez-It 355 at The Glen is set for Sunday, August 11th.
