BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Sabres finally scored multiple goals in a game - on the power play, no less - but Buffalo still walked away with a loss, falling 3-2 to Tampa Bay in overtime.
After a scoreless first period, Buffalo put a pair of power play strikes on the board in the second. Cody Hodgson netted his first of the year, followed by Jamie McBain's first goal as a Sabre, giving Buffalo a 2-1 lead going into the third.
They nearly had a third goal, but a penalty call before the shot wiped it out. On the ensuing power play, Tampa tied the game on a Teddy Purcell goal to force overtime.
Alex Killorn gave the Lightning the win early in OT, keeping Buffalo winless on the season.
The Sabres host Columbus Thursday night.
