BUFFALO, NY (WIVB.com) - On Wednesday several Sabres reported to the First Niagara Center for the start of training camp. The first day of camp consisted mostly of the players getting physicals, testing and headshots. As the season commences, many players discussed their contract situation.
Ryan Miller, who many thought would no longer be wearing Sabres' threads this season, said he is not surprised he is back.
"Darcy has to build a team and maybe he feels that he wants me here, so I am happy to be here," Miller explained.
Thomas Vanek is also in the final year of his contract is waiting to see what transpires in the near future, before signing an extension with the team.
"I just said at the moment, I want to see where it goes and I am not ready to resign," Vanek said.
Meanwhile, according to Darcy Regier, restricted free agent Cody Hodgson is working on getting a contract completed in a timely manner.
The team has had a lot of changes in the past year. As the team embarks on a new season, it is clear that there is potentially more change to come.
