Good Wednesday Evening from Meteorologist Don Paul:
Tonight it will be even milder after midnight, with an increasing breeze late this evening out of the south, bring temps from 40-45 back to at least the low 50s by early Thursday. A few spotty light rain showers will cross the region late, but it will be rainfree much of the time. On Thursday, ahead of a cold front high temps will bump the mid to upper 50s before falling behind a cold front to the 40s by late afternoon. More spotty showers will be possible, but there will be abundant rainfree time.Showers will become more numerous SE of the metro area by mid-afternoon. The cold front will slow to a crawl Thursday night, with some more showers arriving late evening and mixing with a little snow before sunrise, as temps will drop to the low 30s. On Friday, that nearby front now appears to be far enough to our south and east to allow the bulk of the precipitation to move across PA toward the Catskills. Light mixed showers will turn to light snow showers mainly Well SE during a Colder Friday, with temps holding steady or slowly falling through the mid-low 30s. There may be some minor snow accumulation across the Far SE corner of our viewing area. If this frontal positioning holds, the PM commute on Friday is looking better than it did yesterday, with road surfaces staying drier on the Niagara Frontier and even to the south until you get closer to the PA line. Saturday will be Partly Sunny, Breezy & Colder, with high temps in the upper 20s-low 30s. There may be some weak lake effect over the hills Well South. Sunday will be dry with increasing clouds in the afternoon, with a high in the low 30s. Later Sunday evening, a complex storm system will likely bring some initial snow turning to Sleet, then Freezing Rain, making for slick roads late at night and possibly into the Monday AM commute. The freezing rain may turn to just rain Monday morning as temps climb a bit further, ahead of a cold front. Behind that front after a high of 37-40, some light snow showers may return toward evening. It will be sharply colder Tue-Wed, with Tuesday's high in the upper 20s and Wednesday's high around 24. There are some early indications of Possible lake effect snow developing Tuesday afternoon, as the European model is showing a cold SW flow developing, before veering to Westerly later Tuesday night--which would steer any lake effect snow well south.
