Brian Chojnacki returned home to join News 4 as a sports anchor/reporter in Feb. 2020. Brian grew up in Hamburg and graduated from SUNY Oswego.
Brian has worked up and down the east coast, most recently as a studio host and play-by-play announcer with ESPN at Wide World of Sports and anchored sports for the ABC/NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, FL. Prior to the sunshine state, Brian was a sports anchor for CBS in Augusta, GA, and ABC in Bowling Green, KY. He also interned at WKBW while in college.
Throughout Brian’s career, he has been able to cover several major sporting events including The Masters, The PGA Championship, SEC and ACC football Championships, the Stanley Cup and a handful of NFL playoff games.
For Brian, the magnitude of the games didn’t make the most impact, the most meaningful came when he returned to Orchard Park and covered Bills games for the road team. One of his favorite career memories was getting the opportunity to report on the sideline for the 2018 Bills wildcard loss in Jacksonville. Those rare days gave him the strongest realization that he needed to make his way back home.
Brian has won several AP awards in his career including being part of an Edward R. Murrow award-winning team named Best Newscast while covering Hurricane Matthew in 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. Brian was also named Best Sportscaster by Augusta Magazine while anchoring sports in Georgia.
When you don’t see Brian on-air you’ll find him working out, reading, or doing yoga.
