Erica Brecher has proudly covered the people and places that make Western New York since 2014.
Starting first across town, Erica joined News 4 Buffalo as the station’s weekend anchor in August 2018. Prior to joining WIVB-TV, Erica was a reporter for WGRZ-TV from 2014 to 2018 and an anchor, reporter, and producer for WETM-TV in Elmira from 2012 to 2014.
From the historic Snowvember snowstorm and Buffalo’s renaissance to the coronavirus pandemic, Erica’s work has earned two Emmy nominations and station Edward R. Murrow awards.
Erica graduated Cum Laude from Penn State’s College of Communications with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. During college, Erica placed sixth in the country in the prestigious Hearst Journalism Awards Program for Radio News Reporting, and she first place in the Pennsylvania AP Broadcasters Association awards for Enterprise/Individual Reporting. She was inducted to Kappa Tau Alpha, a national honor society for academic excellence in journalism, and wrote for Penn State’s student newspaper, The Daily Collegian.
Erica interned for AccuWeather.com in State College, Pa.; WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C.; WPSU in State College, Pa.; and Coyne PR in Parsippany, N.J.
Erica grew up in New Jersey – where natives also grill or charbroil their hotdogs – and loves visiting her family at home and the Jersey shore.
She loves running into and chatting with fellow Western New Yorkers with her son, Matthew, and husband, News 4 Meteorologist Andrew Baglini. Please feel free to say hi!
