George Richert was born and raised in Buffalo’s Kensington-Bailey neighborhood. After attending St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Buffalo State College, he spent about ten years in local radio news before joining the News 4 team in 1998.

In 2016, he left News 4 for a couple years to serve as the Communications Director for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. He rejoined our team as a reporter in 2018.

George is the recipient of an Emmy-award and the 2014 Pinnacle Award from the Buffalo Broadcasters Association. In his free time he enjoys hunting, camping and spending time with his wife, son and daughter.
