Luke Moretti is a seasoned interviewer and broadcast writer who possesses an ability to analyze, comprehend and deliver news and information generated from technical and complicated subject matters.
Luke has also performed as a moderator for community-oriented forums; both political and non-political, and participates in numerous public speaking engagements each year.
Luke Moretti is the recipient of numerous journalism awards, reflecting a body of work that has been spanned nearly 30-years. Luke’s investigative reporting on the crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 in Clarence Center contributed to News 4 receiving the coveted Edward R. Murrow Award.
Luke Moretti has been bringing Western New York television viewers important and compelling stories since he arrived in Buffalo in 1998.
October 2002, Luke joined the top rated News 4 newsroom in October 2002. He brought an edgy style to the reporting ranks of News 4 that would soon earn him a reputation of being tough, yet fair.
Luke Moretti is perhaps best known for his investigative work in the transportation sector. He was the first to report that one of the ramps at the Interstate 190-290 interchange in the Buffalo-area settled because of extensive deterioration.
He was also the first to report on a landslide that was triggered by a state construction project near Springville, New York. The home of an elderly woman was crumbling before her eyes as the ground shifted from the slide. Following a series of reports the construction was temporarily halted until the slide could be stabilized, and the homeowner was given emergency shelter.
Prior to arriving in Buffalo, Luke worked for WTAJ-TV (CBS) in Altoona, Pennsylvania as an anchor-reporter. During his time at WTAJ-TV he received top honors by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters for his work on the series ‘Get Out Alive’.
Before Altoona, Luke worked for WBNG-TV (CBS) in Binghamton, New York. He was hired as an executive producer, launching the station’s 5:00 PM newscast, and was later tasked with investigating a cancer cluster involving children living in the area.
The story prompted a New York State Health Department investigation. His work on the cancer cluster story resulted in the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association awarding Luke top honors in the category of Best Enterprise Reporting for his extensive work on the story.
Luke Moretti has been recognized at the state, regional and national level for individual and group excellence in journalism.
