Patrick Ryan

Patrick Ryan is a reporter at News 4 Buffalo and a Western New York native.

Patrick joined the News 4 team in Nov. 2020 as a digital producer, breaking web stories and more across the platforms of WIVB.com. He previously worked as a newsroom intern at News 4 in the summer of 2019.

Patrick graduated from SUNY Fredonia in May 2020, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in journalism with a minor in political science. During his time at Fredonia, he worked in various roles at the campus TV station, eventually elected president and general manager.

Patrick also served as campus chapter president of the Society of Professional Journalists.

He’s worked part-time as a promotions coordinator for Townsquare Media Buffalo. He also interned at Spectrum News Buffalo. Additionally, he was a mentee for the Buffalo Broadcasters Association’s fourth annual Student Mentoring Program.

Patrick received the BBA’s Tim Russert Media Career Award (Medal of Merit) in 2021 for outstanding classroom performance and field performance.

He also received a second-place Journalists Association of New York (Formerly N.Y. AP) award for Best Digital Presence.

Patrick is proud to serve Western New York and is always looking for story ideas.
