BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)–We’re hearing from experts at Roswell Park about ways to safely continue cancer care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They put together a webinar via Zoom today.
One of the oncologists says it’s dependent on each person’s situation if that patient continues treatment during the pandemic.
“For patients who are just getting maintenance therapy who don’t need to come in, who are already in remission, the discussion would be whether it would be worth it or not and what benefit that’s having. for patients that are newly diagnosed, and for my service, I take care of patients with leukemia, that’s a very aggressive malignancy. it’s not possible for many of my patients to safely hold chemotherapy for one month, two months, three months,” Chief of the Leukemia Service Dr. Eunice Wang said.
Dr. Wang says Roswell Park is also offering service through telemedicine.
