Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms include fatigue, slurred speech, difficulty walking, vision problems, and more. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50.

Western New York has a very high rate of MS and no one is quite sure why.  WIVB-TV News 4 has been a proud sponsor of Walk MS for more than 30 years.  Over these decades, research funded by the National MS Society has helped develop new medications and treatments for this chronic disease. The ultimate goal is a cure.
