NC State’s Kelvin Harmon is being called one of the most polished receivers in this draft class. Harmon had 13 100+ yard receiving games with the Wolfpack, fourth all time in program history.
“I’d say it’s my mentality,” said Harmon. “My mentality always trying to catch the ball at the highest point, trying to attack the ball just knowing that after mentality. That I’m going to beat the d man in front of me when I’m blocking against him or i have to set up another player just run my route faster, playing and practicing hard.”
The Two time ACC honoree also sits 4th all time in receptions with NC State, with 177 in his three seasons. But his skills aren’t the only thing he’s looking to demonstrate to NFL teams.
“I think just in the meeting rooms showing them how sharp I am as far as my football IQ, and just how I do around people,” said the wide receiver.
When it comes to making a contested catch, Harmon says 50-50 balls are more like 90-10 balls his way. But his teammates will be the first to tell you just how talented he really is when it comes to making a play.
“Kelvin’s going to come down with it,” said NC State OL Garrett Bradbury. “You throw up a jump ball, he’s gonna come down with it. It’s awesome when you can block a guy and look up and there’s a 50 yard explosive play downfield.”
While Harmon didn’t have the fastest 40 time at the combine, analysts have described the potential first round pick as a receiver who is terrific in traffic, and an extremely physical receiver.
“I definitely believe I’m the receiver to go in day one and be able to showcase my talents and work my way up to be able to be a starte,” said Harmon. “So I think I bring in that red zone threat and down the field threat and be able to make those tough catches, those clutch catches and those 50-50 balls.”
