The “Sunflowers of Sanborn” became an Instagram sensation in 2017 when they popped up in a field.
This year owners Chad and Louise Brachmann added shops and safer parking onto their already blooming attraction- but the Town of Cambria ordered them to shut down last month, saying that they were running a commercial business in a residential zone.
The Brachmanns were originally told that they were in an agricultural zone.
They went to Thursday’s town zoning meeting to try and clear up the issue.
“Our farm got rezoned residential and we’re really not sure how that happened because the farm operating consistently for the last 100 years,” Chad Brachmann said. “it’s not just a business that we just put up. I mean this is a commercial farm that we’ve been operation now.”
The Brachmanns got an application to re-zone their property so they can run an agricultural business.
They hope to have everything cleared up in time for next season.
