Buffalo Bills co-owner Kim Pegula spoke Wednesday about her new role as the team gets ready to take the field Thursday for the first pre-season game of the season.

Pegula is the first woman to be president of an NFL team.

Pegula took the reins when Russ Brandon resigned as Bills president in the spring.

Pegula discussed how her new title could open doors for women in professional sports in the future.

“People take notice of those things,” Pegula said. “I know in the past the NFL has not always been seen as a league that has promoted a lot of diversity at the league level.”

The Bills have their first pre-season game of the year Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers.
