The big winner of Buffalo’s best winery is the Willow Creek Winery in Silver Creek! News 4 made the trip out to Chautauqua county to find out what makes it Buffalo’s best.
“Fuzzy Cat, Bubbling Temptations are our carbonated wines and we also offer a Dry Concord which is very rare and unique,” said Dawn Ellis, Business Manager.
Nineteen different types of wines are hand crafted on site at Willow Creek, but they’re best known for their specialty chocolate wines.
“It is made with actual chocolate it leaves no bitter after taste, a nice sweet. If you love chocolate this is the wine you’re going to love whether it’s dry or sweet,” said Carolanne Metzger, Willow Creek Winery owner.
“They start from a semi sweet at a 6% residual sugar to a 10% residual sugar and it’s anything from the Chautauqua Chocolate to the Chocolate Peppermint Patty and even a champagne style chocolate,” said Jessica Metzger, Willow Creek Winery owner.
Willow Creek Winery is a family run operation that’s been in business for 18 years.
Jessica Metzger and her mother Carolanne own it, it’s also part of the Lake Erie Wine Country trail.
“Our trail is amazing it either depending on what direction you’re coming from it starts or begins with us and then goes into northeast Pennsylvania,” said Jessica Metzger.
The winery sits on 27 acres, 24 of those acres include a lot of grapes. You can come sample the wine like their signature chocolate, year round.
“The swirling actually kind of puts the wine in the back and puts the chocolate forward and it makes it a lot more pleasant,” said Carolanne Metzger, Willow Creek Winery owner.
