NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Stock prices are making up for lost ground in early trading Tuesday, up about 180 points in the first minute of trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 350 points, or 2 percent of its value, within 5 minutes of opening Tuesday. This comes after consecutive trading days where the index lost over 500 points.

China’s main stock index fell over 7 percent in trading Tuesday, less than the 8.5 percent drop in that market Monday.
