The Sheriff of Chautauqua County will not be back in office in the new year.

Joseph Gerace has been the Sheriff for nearly a quarter century.

The Democrat was challenged by Republican James Quattrone. He beat Gerace by seven percentage points.

Gerace has not yet said what he’ll be doing next.
