BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -Two men are dead following two separate acts of violence in broad daylight Friday morning.
Buffalo Police were investigating both a shooting and a fatal stabbing, each occurring within about a mile of each other, within the span of around half an hour.
The stabbing occurred in the 200 block of Oakmont Avenue just before 8:15 a.m. The victim was a 52 year-old Buffalo male. Just after 8 p.m. Friday night, police announced homicide detectives arrested 30-year-old William Hemphill of Buffalo and charged him with second degree murder..
Detectives say Hemphill stabbed the 52-year-old male victim during a dispute between the two. Police say the two are known to each other.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
While police were investigating that stabbing, they took off in a hurry, racing to another crime scene on East Delavan and Floss Ave., where a 51-year-old man had been shot.
A large crowd had gathered around the victim as EMTs worked to revive him. They applauded after they heard first responders were able to get the man breathing again and loaded him into an ambulance.
Buffalo Police say he was taken to ECMC where he died a short time later.
Police have not released the names of either person who was killed.
