Cheektowaga councilman pleads guilty to attempted criminal contempt

Crime

Cheektowaga Councilman Jim Rogowski has pleaded guilty to attempted criminal contempt in the 2nd degree for his knowing violation of a court-ordered no-contact Order of Protection.

He admitted to the misdemeanor charge after originally being charged with criminal contempt and menacing.

According to police, Rogowski was involved in a road rage incident with his wife in West Seneca this past February.

Officials say Rogowski followed his wife in his vehicle in an aggressive manner by changing lanes to maintain pursuit of her vehicle and causing her to be fearful of imminent physical injury.

Police told News 4 that Rogowski violated an order or protection. Following this, he was ordered to stay away from his wife and three daughters.

Rogowski faces a maximum of 90 days in jail and/or one year probation when sentenced by Judge Haendiges on November 13.
