Former Lackawanna councilman sentenced for official misconduct

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Lackawanna city councilman who resigned following an investigation that proved he did not live in the area in which he served has been sentenced for official misconduct.

In November, William Leonard, 52, pleaded guilty to official misconduct -- a misdemeanor charge.

This came after an investigation which proved Leonard lived in West Seneca and not Lackawanna.

That initial discussion was brought up in a City Council meeting back in March.

On Wednesday, he was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge.
