A Buffalo man has admitted to causing an explosion in his house that also damaged nearby homes.
Santo Cok, 72, was deemed competent after being taken to a psychiatric center at ECMC.
Cok was charged with third and fourth-degree arson, as well as reckless endangerment after the incident on Covington Rd. in April. He pleaded guilty to the charges on Monday.
According to Buffalo police, Cok unhooked a gas line and lit a candle in a suicide attempt.
The explosion destroyed Cok’s home and damaged those of his neighbors.
When sentenced on January 9, Cok could spend up to 15 years in prison.
He remains in custody without bail.
