Following a two-month-long investigation into a crash on Middle Rd. in Sardinia, a man has been charged.
The rollover crash on July 1 hospitalized five people, including a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and a child who was only six days old at the time.
Deputies took a blood sample from 31-year-old Delevan resident Richard Smith. According to a toxicology report, there was a substance in Smith’s blood that caused him to be impaired, deputies say.
Smith has been charged with three counts of aggravated DWI (with a passenger less than 16 years old) and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He turned himself in on September 12.
