A Buffalo man has been charged with raping a woman in July of 2017.
Prosecutors say Carl Thomas, 24, approached a young woman at a corner store at Broadway and Schutrum St. in Buffalo.
Minutes after this, prosecutors say Thomas approached her again while outside of the store, grabbed her arm and gestured that he had a gun.
This is when officials say he forced the victim to walk to an isolated area, where they say he strangled and sexually assaulted her.
Thomas was charged with rape, criminal sex act, strangulation and sex abuse.
He was remanded and will return to court in August.
If convicted of all the charges against him, Thomas could spend up to 25 years in prison.
