Man who admitted to attempted burglary in connection with Hamburg fire to be sentenced

Crime

The man who admitted to breaking into a Hamburg family’s home and vehicles that went up in flames will learn his fate today.

Nicholas Harms pleaded guilty to attempted burglary last month.

In August of 2017, Harms was found drunk and barefoot in a yard next to the home on Rosedale Ave.

Deputies on the scene say the Eden man admitted to starting the fire, although he was never charged with arson.

Five of the six members of the Neureuter family were able to escape.

Harms was arrested with credit cards and other property from the home in his pockets.

Harms could spend up to seven years in prison.
