BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man who pleaded guilty to the second degree murder of his girlfriend Tequila Suter was sentenced to spend a chunk of his life behind bars Friday.
A judge said Damoni Hall deserves to sit in prison for the rest of his life for stabbing Suter 39 times. He sentenced Hall to 20 years to life behind bars after listening to Hall calmly tell Suter’s family he was sorry for what happened, telling them he didn’t mean to kill the 26-year-old.
“I understand there aren’t words to describe what you are going through,” Hall said. “As long as you know it wasn’t intentional I just pray that the peace of god be with you all.”
But the judge did not appreciate his words, especially after Hall pleaded guilty.
“Lets set the record straight — it was intentional murder that you plead guilty to, and it was no accident,” Hall said. “You didn’t black out, you were enraged with jealousy.”
Hall was lead away in handcuffs, wearing prison garb, but even after he left the courtroom for his cell, a family was left shaken. The family of Suter called her an intelligent person, and a daughter they could never get back.
