U.S. Attorney James Kennedy says 28-year-old Shane Guay of Olean is indicted on receipt and production of child pornography and enticing a minor charges.
Officials say the Ayer and Shirley Police Departments in Massachusetts received reports that 15 sixth grade females attending the Ayer/Shirley middle school received unsolicited sexual messages from a man known as “George” on Instagram.
Guay, who posed as “George,” attempted to sexually solicit explicit images from minors, according to Ayer and Shirley Police.
He alleged to some of the girls that he was a lesbian and sent topless images of a minor female to the victims.
Guay then proceeded to send graphic photos of a male to the victims.
New York State Police investigated after being sent all the case materials from the Ayer/Shirley investigation.
In April 2018 Homeland Security Investigations in Buffalo received a lead from the Harris County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office, which identified two 12-year-old females from Harris County, GA, who reported receiving unsolicited pictures and videos of a naked adult male from two Instagram users.
Both Instagram accounts were traced to Guay.
A search warrant was executed by state police and the Homeland Security investigators at Guay’s North Street home in Olean.
Investigators say 26 electronics were seized, including two cell phones that contained multiple explicit images.
154 images and five videos containing suspected child pornography were found.
The investigation also revealed Guay sent sexual messages to a minor female in Cape Town, South Africa.
Guay was arraigned and could spend 15 years to life in prison.
