Sentencing for deadly shooting at West Seneca sports complex

The man who shot and killed his mother’s ex-husband following a girls’ basketball game in West Seneca was on Thursday sentenced, as expected, to five years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Andre Lewis of Rochester shot 54-year-old Robert Echols got into an argument at the Niagara Frontier Sports Complex on Meyer Road. After Echols punched Lewis, Lewis shot him twice from a pistol he was licensed to carry. 

Echols later died due to his injuries. He was 54.

After two previous trials concluded with hung juries, Lewis pleaded guilty in April to a lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter.
