Dad jailed after allegedly teaching son to steal


SCIO, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police say a Buffalo man was arrested after teaching his son to steal.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday,the owner of Breezy Point Camp Ground in Allegany County said she noticed two people breaking into vacant campers.

The two were identified as William Smith, 36, and his 15-year-old son.

According to Troopers, Smith and his son were walking around the campground when they began breaking into the campers.

During this time, State Police say the campground owner confronted Smith and his son and scared them off.

Smith was later charged with trespassing, criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child. He was then jailed in Allegany County on $5,000 bail.
