Dollar Tree will add alcohol to about 1,000 of its Family Dollar stores, and will continue to roll out some items for more than $1 at certain locations.
Dollar Tree announced the news in a first quarter fiscal report released Thursday.
Dollar Tree acquired Family Dollar in 2015.
The Virginia-based chain plans to close up to 390 Family Dollar stores, mostly in the second quarter of 2019. It also plans to rebrand about 200 Family Dollar stores to the Dollar Tree brand.
Dollar Tree, a chain whose claim to fame is selling everything in the store for $1, is testing selling some items at a higher price point, branded as Dollar Tree Plus! The press release says Dollar Tree stores will continue to sell their existing items at $1.
