Transportation Security Administration officers at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport stopped an East Amherst man from bringing a loaded semi-automatic handgun onto a plane on Friday.
According to the TSA, the man was found to have a .380 caliber handgun in one of his carry-on bags. The gun was loaded with seven bullets, including one in the chamber. It was spotted by a TSA officer in the checkpoint x-ray machine.
NFTA Police were contacted and the firearm was confiscated. Police cited the man on weapons charges.
According to the TSA, Friday’s gun catch was the second gun caught at the airport checkpoint so far this calendar year. In 2017, TSA officers detected three firearms in carry-on bags at the airport.
