Eight charged in Rochester cocaine and heroin ring

Federal authorities say they have busted a major drug ring in Rochester.

Now, eight people are facing charges that could land them in prison for life.

Police say the following people have been charged with conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, and one kilogram or more of heroin:

• Edwin Deleon, age 27  
• Eugenio Torres, 44 
• Clarita Mendez, 31
• Sergio Smith, 30
• Manuel Lewis, 29
• Bryan Deleon, 23
• Juan Ortega-Baez, 18
• Angel Fernando, 28

Deleon, Torres, and Mendez are also charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Prosecutors say the group trafficked cocaine and heroin around the City of Rochester. Investigators found multiple firearms, and substances believed to be fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine along with $20,000 during a search warrant linked to the case.
