Father who admitted to starting fire that killed son in Buffalo arrested again


A Buffalo father who pleaded guilty to starting a fire that killed his seven-year-old son has been arrested again.

Joseph Conti pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, and admitted to starting the fire in Buffalo’s Lovejoy neighborhood, which occurred in January of last year.

Conti was reportedly trying to light a cigarette with a blowtorch, causing the fire.

His son, Anthony, was pronounced dead after being pulled out of the home.

On Monday morning, News 4 confirmed that Conti was arrested again, facing charges of harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to police, Conti is accused of shoving a woman to the ground in a Lovejoy home while children were there.

Police say the incident happened on Saturday evening.

Conti had been on probation as a result of his guilty plea to criminally negligent homicide.
