Former Village of Hamburg employee gets 3 months of weekends in jail for stealing money

A former Hamburg village employee who confessed to pocketing thousands of dollars learned her fate.

A judge sentenced Joanne Erickson to three months of jail on weekends. She pleaded guilty to several charges, including grand larceny.

Erickson was a recreation attendant for the Village of Hamburg. Prosecutors say she stole more than $150,000.

That money was meant for an afterschool program, a children’s summer program and recreational hall rental fees.

The thefts date back to 2011, and Erickson has paid full restitution.
