In-class mock slave auction in NNY school investigated

A teacher in a northern New York school district is on administrative leave, and stands accused by school officials of holding a mock slave auction as an in-class lesson.

Parents of students at North Elementary School in the city of Watertown said the teacher had black students act as slaves while white students were told to act as slave owners.

The students are in the 4th grade.

As a school investigation into the complains is ongoing, officials there said they are not releasing the name of the teacher in question.
