BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Buffalo Sabres announced Sunday afternoon that Jack Eichel is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

In a press conference before the Sabres game against Colorado, head coach Phil Housley said Eichel could miss 4-6 weeks. Housley said he also believes Eichel could return before the season is over.

The biggest relief for Sabres fans is that Eichel will not need surgery. The announcement comes a day after Eichel was hurt in the first period of Buffalo’s 4-2 win at Boston.
