Team Canada ended Team USA’s run as world champs, dethroning the four-time Gold Medal winners with a 3-2 overtime win at the Under-18 IIHF World Championships on Sunday.
The US earned a Silver for the first time since 2014 and has earned a medal in all 12 tournaments.
Amherst native Katy Knoll, who also plays for the Nichols Vikings, was one of three players from the United States named as one of the top players in the tournament.
Not the finish we aimed for, but we couldn’t be more proud of this group for the way they represented the U.S. these last few weeks. #U18WWC 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/BRowk4XYmd— USA Hockey (@usahockey) January 13, 2019
