On Thursday afternoon, the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) announced the completion of the eastbound I-290 bridge over the NFTA corridor in the Town of Tonawanda.
The lane and ramp restrictions will be removed on Saturday.
The restrictions have been in place since April as part of the first phase of the bridge replacement project.
The $6.7 million project will continue next spring.
“We are committed to repairing and replacing our aging infrastructure along Interstate 290 to both support and encourage economic growth in Western New York,” Acting DOT Commissioner Karas said. “We completed the replacement of the first bridge as scheduled on this important commercial and commuter corridor, and look forward to the next phase of this project in the spring.”
