Although we’re still in the heart of winter, at the WNY Boat Show you can start thinking ahead to spring and summer where the latest boats and water crafts are on full display.

“You can expect boats of all sizes from jet skis, to small fishing boats, to center console fishing boats, to a sport boat, to cruisers, to pontoon boats,” said Peter Stevens, Marine Trades Association of WNY Treasurer.

You can come fight off the winter blues by turning your attention to warmer days boating on the water.

“You’re working with the dealers negotiating the deal, and then you purchase the boat. A good time to purchase the boat is here at the show. And you’re looking at then a delivery of usually April or early May where they get the boat put together for you and outfitted and off you go,” said Stevens.

A Sea Ray Cruiser is the most expensive boat you’ll find at the WNY Boat Show, costing a cool $300,000.

But there are more affordable options too like pontoons boats. which are the best seller.

Many of the boats and water craft also come with extra bells and whistles.

“Electronics are always improving, radar and GPS, fish finders they’re all getting better and everything talks to each other,” said Stevens.

Stevens says there’s a big boating community in Western New York, and there are a lot of places to get in the water.

“Those of us who are sailors, we’re out on the lake but there’s also the Buffalo River, the Niagara River, upper and lower Niagara, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, the Finger Lakes, Chautaqua, there’s a lot of places to go,” said Stevens.

The WNY Boat Show begins Wednsday at 5 pm and lasts through Sunday.
