ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Give a book take a book. That’s the motto behind the Little Free Library project.

Girl Scout Troop #31301 in Orchard Park are working on three new libraries that will be placed around different areas in the town.

The goal of the libraries is to help promote literacy in a fun and unique way.

The troop leader said community projects like these are important to her girls.

“My girls love books, they love to read, they love to provide, they love to share and they love reading. So they are here they’re doing stuff they have never done before. They’re using tools they have never used before, power tools and they’re learning lots of skills,” said troop leader, Mindee Mutty.

The Girl Scouts received their Silver Award for building the little libraries. The Silver Award is the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn.
