SHELBY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A sobriety checkpoint in the Town of Shelby yielded arrests over the weekend.

Police set up shop on State Route 32 Saturday night and say one person who was nearly twice over the legal limit attempted to pass through the barrier.

Police stopped Bayyinah A. Baity, 25, and say she appeared to be drunk. Baity was arrested and tested. Police say her blood alcohol content was .15 percent, nearly twice over the legal limit.

Several other people were arrested or charged for other minor infractions.

Baity will return to court on April 30.
