Local man accused of shooting young stepdaughters with BB gun as punishment

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A stepfather is accused of shooting his two stepdaughters with a BB gun multiple times as punishment.

On Saturday, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mercy Ambulatory Care Center after medical staff said they were taking care of two children with numerous wounds.

Deputies interviewed the children’s stepfather, Steven Scroger, 29, and accused him of shooting the four and six-year-old girls.

During this time, deputies took away the BB gun that was allegedly used to shoot them and subsequently charged Scroger with multiple felonies.

Scroger is accused of assaulting a person younger than 7, criminal weapon possession with intent to use and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Scroger was committed to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $7,500 bail.
