GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Sheriff’s deputies in Grand Island say they had to rescue an infant from a hot, running car when its parents accidentally locked it inside.
After the baby’s parents called deputies, they came to the scene and noticed the 9-month-old child sweating and turning red.
With permission from the parents, deputies broke open a car window. The mother helped a deputy take the baby out of the car.
Once the baby was removed, it was rushed inside the family’s house where a deputy ran cool water over it in a bathtub.
EMS personnel evaluated the baby, who became responsive and alert when cooled down. The baby was okay, and was released to its parents.
Because this was an accidental incident, no charges were filed against the parents.
