For many women in need, feminine hygiene products can be unaffordable or unavailable.
B Team Buffalo is once again helping to bridge the gap with their Pints and Pads event on Wednesday.
The happy hour fundraiser will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second floor of Mr. Goodbar, 1110 Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo. The cost is a box of pads or tampons, or a $10 donation at the door, which covers a drink ticket and bar snacks.
The fundraiser will benefit Cornerstone Manor, Buffalo City Mission’s service for women, and the Westminster Community Charter School, which is located in the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, an area where B Team Buffalo held its City of Light event in December.
“There’s such a stigma around acquiring pads and tampons, and a lot of times younger students don’t necessarily have access to them,” Liz Reaves, fundrasing chair for B Team Buffalo said. “Women will miss work because they don’t have the extra money or the access to the products.”

Reaves said that not having access to feminine hygiene products is still an issue in the United States.
“I can’t tell you how many people I’ve told about this event and they’re blown away that this is still an issue- that there are people living in our country and our city who don’t have access to feminine hygiene products,” Reaves said. “This is an area of inequality for us- it’s something that not every woman is able to obtain.”
If you aren’t able to make the 2019 Pints and Pads fundraiser, you can donate by emailing info@bteambuffalo.com, or by donating directly to Cornerstone Manor.
