Arrest made in connection to fire at abandoned Cattaraugus County school

An arrest is made in connection to a fire at an abandoned Cattaraugus County school. 

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Gage C. Weyrough faces 3rd degree arson, burglary, and criminal mischief chagres following an investigation of the fire. 

The incident happened on June 24 at the former Cattaraugus Central School in the Village of Cattaraugus. 

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested on July 9 and was arraigned in New Albion Town Court. 

Weyrough was then remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
