As many high school seniors focus on graduation, one WNY teen runs thriving business

Local News

As many high school seniors are focusing on graduation, and figuring out their next steps, one 18-year-old from Orchard Park is busy running his own, thriving business.

Jordan O’Brien is graduating from OPHS this Saturday, but he’s wise beyond his high school years and runs his a real estate photography business called Real Estate Studio.

“You can tell he’s in high school, but when he started to talk, everything changed,” Nancy Barry said, a real estate agent at Howard Hannah in Orchard Park.

O’Brien started Real Estate Studio back in October. He offers interior photography, exterior photography, virtual staging, drone video and drone pictures.

“I was always into technology, and starting at a young age I started flying these cheaper types of drones, and started applying it to this type of business and it’s been a hit,” he said.

For the first month he did his work for free, in order to build a portfolio.

“He just had it all together, he had all the answers, he had the enthusiasm, which is really big, and he was willing to go the extra mile and listen to my needs,” Barry said.

Barry, and others at Howard Hanna in Orchard Park, have hired the teen multiple times for jobs.

“If someone says ‘I need you now,’ he’s willing to go now,” she said.

Barry said the drone video is especially important for selling certain properties and homes.

Jordan plans to go to RIT in the fall, and is already networking in that area, in order to expand the business east.

“Business is just growing and it’s doing great right now,” he said.

As far as advice to others: he said to find what you love, and work really hard to make it a reality.
